White screen in the reporting app

All I see is a white screen after opening the app

THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED IN VERSION 2.1.3

This can happen on iPhone or iPad when the app has been added to the home screen as a shortcut - the Progressive Web App (PWA) version of our app.

After an update is released, the PWA version can sometimes have trouble starting up and shows a white screen instead.


This affects both iPad and iPhone. Other devices are not affected. The fix is simple:

  • White screen? Swipe the app away upwards.

  • Reopen the app.

Why does this happen?

Apple has been in a dispute with the European Commission over how it must allow apps access to its App Store. In what appears to be a retaliatory move, Apple scaled back its support for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) in Safari in 2024, which is the underlying cause of this issue.
