In some situations, an emergency alarm is not a standard incident, but related to a specific personal situation. In these cases, it can be important that the Alarm Response Center (ARC) operator immediately understands the context of the alarm.
Within the Montr emergency button platform, administrators can add additional personal information to a user profile. This information is shown to the ARC operator when an alarm is triggered, helping them to better assess the situation and respond appropriately.
Providing the right context can improve:
Situational awareness for responders
Communication with emergency services
The speed and effectiveness of the response
The safety of the employee
When should this be used?
This field is intended for user-specific situations such as.
1. Directed threat related to work
For example:
A known aggressive client
A person who previously threatened an employee
A specific address where incidents occurred before
In these situations, the ARC operator can immediately understand the risk when an alarm is triggered. And understands what the issue can be when the alarm is triggered in on unexpected time of day, for example during the weekend.
2. Personal safety situations affecting work
For example:
Stalking
A violent ex-partner
Threats in private life that may also affect the workplace
Employees allowed to use the emergency button outside office hours due to personal risk
This ensures the ARC operator understands that the alarm may be related to a personal safety situation rather than a workplace incident.
How to add this information (Administrator)
Each company administrator can manage users in the Montr platform.
Steps:
Go to Admin → Users
Open the user profile
Scroll to the bottom of the page
Fill in the field “Additional information”
Save the changes
When the user triggers an alarm, this information will automatically be shown to the ARC operator.
Important note
The “Additional information” field is intended only for specific, personal situations that may influence an alarm. The ARC operator will already receive general contextual information, such as:
The company
The type of work
Office locations
Known workplace risks and occupational hazards
Only use this field for additional user-specific information that the ARC must know immediately during an alarm situation.
Example of what to write in “Additional information”
Good examples:
“Employee has a restraining order against ex-partner. If alarm occurs outside office hours, this may be related.”
“Known aggressive client: John Doe, lives at [address]. Previous incidents reported.”
“Employee may use alarm during home visits in [area] due to previous threats.”
Avoid:
Long reports
Medical information
Irrelevant personal details
Keep it short, factual, and relevant for emergency response.
Privacy and responsibility
Because this field may contain sensitive personal information:
Only administrators should manage this information
Only store information that is necessary for emergency response
Keep the information short, factual, and up to date
Remove the information when the situation no longer applies
This helps ensure both employee safety and privacy protection.
If you are unsure whether information should be added, please contact your company administrator or Montr support.
