Not every user starts using the emergency button right away. Some users may need an extra support or reminder after a period of inactivity. That's why we introduced Onboarding Refresher: a targeted email sequence and optional onsite training designed to help users activate their account, return to the app, and regain confidence in using the emergency button.
The goal is simple: ensure users stay prepared, comfortable and confident using the emergency button when needed.
Who is this feature for?
This feature is valuable for organisations that want to increase employee engagement and emergency readiness without manual follow-up. The feature targets two groups of users:
New users who delay activating their account
Users who have not logged in for a longer period
For organisations who prefer additional training in-person, the Onboarding Refresher can also include in-office session as an additional step (non obligatory). This helps users build new habits and supports long-term use of the emergency buttons.
Importantly, active users are not unnecessarily reminded. Users who performed a test alarm within the last 30 days are automatically excluded from the sequence.
This creates a good balance between providing support and preventing an overload of notifications.
The Onboarding Refresher can complement our automated onboarding, for example, when employee could not go though it the first time.
How does it work in daily practice?
The manager decides whether in-office session is required for the team and set up a date with Montr Onboarding Specialist. The Onboarding Refresher email sequence starts automatically when users match specific inactivity criteria. If an in-person training session is scheduled, the series begins 10 days before the training.
Sequence is personalised based on user behaviour, ensuring users receive only relevant information:
Users who never activated their account receive guidance on account activation and getting started with the app
Users who previously activated their account but have not logged in for an extended period receive support on logging in again, including password reset instructions if needed
Once users return to the app, they are encouraged to perform a test alarm, helping them rebuild confidence and confirm everything works correctly
Active users are excluded automatically based on the last test alarm date (if tested in last 30 days)
The communication is spread over time and designed to be supportive rather than intrusive, by sending only emails with minimum 3 days interval.
For organisations requesting additional in-office training, the refresher email sequence acts as a solid ground and preparation before the training. During the in-office training users learn step by step how the processes work: from account activation, app downloading and logging in, to paring device and triggering an alarm.
