A synchronisation conflict occurs when Report X finds two different versions of the same investigation. This can happen, for example, when an investigation is opened on more than one device before synchronisation has finished. You will then see a blue sync icon on the report card and will need to choose which version to keep.
For example:
You make changes offline and submit the investigation on your iPad.
Before the iPad has finished syncing, you submit the same investigation on your laptop.
Both devices now hold different versions of the investigation.
Checking the sync status
Open the menu at the top right and select Syncing status. This shows every investigation that has not yet been synchronised.
In an open investigation, the Overzicht (overview) section shows the time of the Laatste synchronisatie (last sync).
Recognising a conflict
Go to the list of investigations.
Check the bottom of the report card.
You will see a blue cloud icon:
Resolving the conflict
Open the investigation showing the blue cloud icon, or open it from the list under Syncing status.
Click or tap Versiebeheer (version control) at the top right of the Overzicht section.
Compare the Lokale versie (local version) with the Gesynchroniseerde versie (synchronised version) and decide which changes to keep.
Confirm to keep the changes on this device, or cancel to keep the changes from the other device.
Then check under Syncing status that the investigation is no longer listed.
No Versiebeheer button?
If an investigation appears in the Syncing status list but there is no Versiebeheer button, do not log out in the meantime.
Go to Instellingen (settings) and select Rapporteer een probleem (report a problem). This sends the app data to our helpdesk.
Then contact us through the chat so we can help you further.
This is also explained in a short video below:
To avoid synchronisation conflicts:
Wait for synchronisation to finish before opening the same investigation on another device or tab.
Connect to the internet first on the device you worked on offline, so the offline data can be synchronised.
Check the time of the last sync when switching between devices.
Use a stable internet connection whenever possible.
Resolve conflicts as soon as they appear.
By following these recommendations, you can safely work online and offline and across multiple devices, while all investigation data is correctly saved and synchronised.
