In addition to the Montr reporting app, we also offer a personal alarm application - an extensive platform that has proven itself over the years. This service is provided by Montr Safety Solutions and has its own alarm receiving centre integrations.
The reporting app now includes an emergency button integration, allowing users to send an emergency alert directly from within the app. The alert is then handled by the Montr Noodknop application.
The alert can be forwarded to an official certified alarm receiving centre (PAC) for alarm handling and escalation. Colleagues can also be notified at the same time. It is also possible to notify colleagues only, without involving an alarm centre. To use this feature, the app (via the browser) needs access to your location settings - this permission must be granted, otherwise the button will not work.
How does sending an emergency alert work?
Once the feature has been activated for a user, a slider will appear within the report. The position of the slider depends on screen orientation:
iPhone - the slider appears at the bottom of the screen:
iPad (portrait) - the slider appears at the bottom of the screen:
iPad (landscape) - the slider appears at the top right of the screen:
To activate the alarm, slide the slider to the left and hold it in the leftmost position for two seconds. The alarm will then be sent. Once it has been successfully received and processed by the alarm centre, the app will play an alert sound - make sure your device volume is turned on.
If you use the reporting app on a desktop in the office, the slider does not need to be shown. You can disable it for that specific device under the button settings.
Test mode
Under settings you can also activate test mode, which allows you to send a practice alarm without alerting the alarm centre or your colleagues. Test mode is useful for getting familiar with the alarm process - we recommend practising every three months. When test mode is active, this will be visible on the slider itself.
After sending a test alarm, the user will receive a confirmation email that the test was completed successfully. Test mode can then be turned off again in settings.
What happens when an emergency alert is sent?
When an alert is sent, the app already knows who you are, your personal details, and who your manager is. It also knows your GPS location and the address and person you are currently visiting. All of this information can be sent directly to the alarm centre for handling.
Your organisation can also choose to notify colleagues only. They will receive a phone notification that an alert has been sent, and the GPS coordinates will be forwarded simultaneously by flash SMS.
