Major maintenance & alarm tracking - updates September - December '24

Updating and improving the iOS & Android app

In the autumn of 2024 we invested significant time and effort into maintaining the codebase of the emergency button application - specifically the Noodknop app.

Every year, newer and faster phones come to market, and with them the operating systems (iOS, Android) evolve too. We update and maintain the apps after every OS update as a matter of course, but it is also important to carry out more substantial maintenance periodically. That is what we did this autumn. One of the outcomes of this work is that reconnecting the emergency button after a lost connection now works more smoothly.

We also introduced an important new feature: alarm tracking. After the user triggers the emergency button, an alert is sent to the alarm centre as usual. This new feature additionally sends a GPS location update to the alarm centre every 30 seconds after the alarm is triggered. This continues until the user cancels the alarm in the app.
