Override silent mode when the Alarm Receiving Centre calls (iPhone)

Important! Set this up yourself quickly and easily

When you press the emergency button, the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) will call you straight away. Whether or not you are able to answer, it is important that you are aware the ARC is calling — regardless of whether your phone is on silent.

You can set this up easily on your iPhone by following the steps below. First, always save the ARC phone number in your phone. This number is not the same for all our customers — check with a colleague or send a message to helpdesk@montr.nl.

Solution: Set the number as a Favourite and configure Do Not Disturb or Focus correctly

1. Add the number to your Favourites

  • Open the Phone app

  • Go to the Favourites tab

  • Tap the plus sign (+) to add a new contact

  • Select the correct contact/number and add it

2. Adjust your Do Not Disturb or Focus settings

  • Go to SettingsFocusDo Not Disturb (or whichever Focus mode you use)

  • Tap PeopleAllow calls from

  • Select Favourites

3. Configure silent mode settings correctly

  • In SettingsFocusDo Not Disturb, scroll to Options

  • Make sure Silence is set to "When iPhone is locked" so that the Favourites exception works when the screen is off

Important:

  • This method works even when your iPhone is on silent (physical side switch), as long as Focus or Do Not Disturb is active and the number is set as an exception

  • Make sure your phone is not set to a silent ringtone for calls in your sound settings

Alternative (more control): Use a custom Focus mode

  • Create a dedicated Focus mode for this situation

  • Allow only the ARC contact under Allowed People

  • Enable this mode whenever you do not want to be disturbed except by that number
