When you press the emergency button, the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) will call you straight away. Whether or not you are able to answer, it is important that you are aware the ARC is calling — regardless of whether your phone is on silent.
You can set this up easily on your Android phone by following the steps below. First, always save the ARC phone number in your phone. This number is not the same for all our customers — check with a colleague or send a message to helpdesk@montr.nl.
Follow the four steps below for Android (works for most Android versions including Samsung, Pixel, etc.)
1. Save the number in your contacts
Make sure the number is saved in your Contacts app with a clear name (for example: ARC Emergency Button).
2. Mark the contact as a "Favourite" or "Important"
Open the Contacts app
Find the contact
Tap the star or select "Mark as favourite"
This makes it a priority contact for "Do Not Disturb" settings
3. Go to "Do Not Disturb" settings
Go to Settings → Sound → "Do Not Disturb" (or Notifications → Do Not Disturb, depending on your device)
Look for "Allow calls" from or "Allow priority calls"
Set to: "Favourites only" or "Selected contacts"
4. Enable repeated calls (optional)
In "Do Not Disturb" settings, enable "Allow repeated calls":
This ensures that if someone calls you twice within 15 minutes, the second call always gets through — useful if the number changes or appears as unknown
Important:
If your device is fully silenced (via the volume button or Samsung side switch), you must use "Do Not Disturb" actively rather than just silent mode
Different Android manufacturers may use slightly different terms — look for "Focus mode", "Do Not Disturb", "Priority" or "Allowed contacts"
