Testing the emergency button — the 'practice' alarm

It is important to become familiar with the emergency button so that when the moment comes, you can activate the alarm quickly and confidently.

To build confidence in your day-to-day use of the emergency button, it is good practice to test it periodically.

You can test as often as you like and the process is straightforward. Simply activate test mode by pressing the 'test' button in the green bar. Test mode is now active, which is also indicated in the top right of the screen. However, this is not the final step — with test mode active, you still need to perform one last action: pressing the emergency button itself.

Press the emergency button twice ("press twice within three seconds") and if the test alert is successful you will see a green screen, and you will receive a confirmation email.

Important to know: in test mode, no alert is sent to the Alarm Receiving Centre, and you will not hear a beep after pressing the button. The beep is omitted to preserve battery life. Finished testing? Press cancel test.

It is important that you carry out this practice alarm periodically to stay confident and skilled in using the emergency button.
