Occasionally we receive reports that the map in the Emergency Button app is not working, or that a stretch of ocean is being displayed instead of a location.
This is easily explained - the app has not been granted permission to use your location. When this is the case, an explicit warning is also shown in the app to indicate that location access is turned off.
For the technically curious: without location access, the app defaults to the so-called zero position - latitude and longitude 0,0 - which is located at the intersection of the equator and the prime meridian. That places it off the coast of West Africa in the Atlantic Ocean.
So if you see the map below, your location access is turned off!
