ID scanning, personal data question type, translation function update, stuck inspection recovery - updates October '24

Several updates were rolled out in October.

Personal data question type

The most significant addition is a new question type: "personal data". This allows you to quickly and clearly record the personal details of one or more people. You can configure which fields are included when setting up the questionnaire.

This question type also supports automatic data extraction from an ID document. Take a photo of the ID (any international passport, EU ID card or driving licence, or Dutch residence permit) and the personal details are extracted and filled in automatically.

For a full explanation of this question type, see the dedicated article.

Translation function update

The underlying translation service had removed some languages and added others. This has been corrected, and the quality of translations has also been improved with this update. Want to have a question read aloud in another language or record a response in a foreign language? Give it a try.

Recovering a stuck inspection

Although several updates have been released over the past year to address this, it can still occasionally happen that a user is unable to sync a completed or nearly completed inspection. This issue is described in this article. To quickly retrieve the inspection from your device, go to settings and tap the "Report a problem" button.

All files in the app will then be sent to the Montr helpdesk and we will ensure you receive the report. You can specify which report the issue relates to in the description field:

Smaller updates

The update log previously shown under settings has been removed - it was used by almost no one and, given that we often release multiple small updates per week, provided little practical value in practice.

A report formatting change has also been made: the word "date" now always appears next to the signature field in the PDF, even when no signature has been placed.

As always, a number of further smaller optimisations and routine codebase maintenance have also been carried out.
